Description
The Dutch insurance company Achmea cuts 240 jobs at its non-life insurance department.
An increasing number of claims is submitted digitally and processed automatically without any human intervention. In addition, Achmea states that the volatility in the number of claims forces the company to become more flexible.
As the job cuts will be spread over the next three years, forced dismissal will not be necessary.
Union representatives were not surprised by the reorganisation plan, since many companies in the financial sector are reorganising as a result of digitisation.
Achmea is the largest insurance company in the Netherlands and has 13,000 employees.
