Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Dematic, the US-capital company which is one of the leading suppliers of integrated automated technology, software and services to optimise the supply chain, is to create 100 new jobs in its subsidiary in Kaunas in 2021. Dematic opened its engineering and consulting office in Kaunas in 2007 and it was slowly growing over the last decade. In 2020, despite the pandemic, Dematic Kaunas managed to grow by 56 employees. Currently the company in Kaunas employs 196 employees and has plans to hire additional 100 people by the end of 2021. The company will employ control specialists, mechanical engineers, software developers, managers and other profesionals.
Dematic is headquatered in the US; the company designs, builds and supports intelligent, automated solutions for manufacturing, warehouse and distribution environments. Dematic has 60 engineering centres in 25 countries, it manages manufacturing facilities in North America, Europe, China, and Australia. The company has more than 7,000 employees worldwide.
