Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Cognizant Softvision, a software engineering company, announced the creation of 200 new positions. The expansion is expected to involve the company's five centres in Bucharest, Baia-Mare, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi and Timisoara and to be completed by the end of 2021.
In the context of working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company launched a new concept “The Place to Be, Now & Beyond”. The concept offers employees the opportunity to work from any location and sets to transform the company’s five centres into regional hubs used for business meetings and IT events.
In Romania, the company has a workforce of 2,000. Cognizant Softvision employs over 12,000 product, design and engineering specialists across a network of 40 studios in seven countries, spread over three continents. The company's global portfolio includes clients such as Groupon, Macy's and Mozilla.
Update, 27 July 2021:
During the first 6 months of 2021, the company recruited 500 employees instead of the initiallly planned 200. On 12 July 2021, the company announced its intention to hire an additional 500 employees by the end of 2021.
