Heineken, the Dutch brewery announced 300 job cuts in the Netherlands, as part of a global reorganisation.
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the hospitality industry has been closed for several months all over the world. Hotels, bars and restaurants represent the most profitable distribution channels for Heineken. For this reason, the company suffered from an 8.1% decrease in sales in 2020 in comparison with the previous year.
Globally, Heineken is to cut 8,000 employees. The reorganization should lead to around €350 million cost savings. In addition, the company aims to improve both the production process and the logistic system, forecasting €2 billion cost savings by 2023. Finally, Heineken is the world's second-largest beer brewery, employing 85,000 people worldwide.
