Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
German online retailer of automotive parts AUTODOC has announced that it will create 800 new jobs at its new logistics centre in Szczecin. The company has invested €11 million in the semi-automatically operated warehouse to double its storage space in the city to 26,700 square metres. It is expected that AUTODOC's handling will increase form 25,000 daily orders to as many as 61,000. Employees receive a number of bonus systems, private health insurance and care as well as free transport.
AUTODOC is active in 27 European countries. The company has two logistics centre located in Berlin (Germany) and Szczecin (Poland) employing about 4,000 staff. In Szczecin, the company has been operating since 2018; currently, about 1,600 people are employed at the Szczecin site.
