280 jobs Number of planned job losses
Announcement Date
4 February 2021
Employment effect (start)
Foreseen end date
Description
The state company Holland Casino is to cut 280 jobs at its 14 locations in the Netherlands, around 10% of the total workforce.
Holland Casino suffered from the seven-months closure, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The reorganization had already been announced in December 2020, but it was still unclear how many jobs would be lost.
Part of the 280 jobs that will be lost will be realized through natural employee turnover. In addition, some of the employees make use of a voluntary severance scheme. Even if, redundancies seem unavoidable.
The current lockdown is in place until at least 2 March 2011, but reopening at that date is highly unlikely. Even after reopening, the company anticipates lower turnovers in case the pandemic is followed by an economic recession.
