European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The subsidy of an US IT giant, AT&T Global Network Services Slovakia, announced mass dismissals in its facilities in Bratislava and Kosice. According to the employment office, 439 employees in total will be made redundant in both facilities. In Bratislava, the company employs 1800 employees, out of which 292 will be dismissed. In Kosice, 147 out of 1,000 employees will be dismissed. The dismissals should be accomplished by 1 April 2021. According to the company speaker, the redundancies are attributed to declining demand for services caused by the COVID-19 crisis. The works council was involved in the discussion on the dismissal process.
The company operates in the country since 2000 and belongs to the largest IT companies in Slovakia with about 2,800 employees.
