Description
IBM Österreich, the Austrian branch of the US IT company, is about to dismiss 200 employees. In December 2020, the company’s employees were informed by management that job cuts would take place in January 2021. The company has already sent dismissal notices to the affected employees. When contacted, a company spokesperson remained vague about the rational of this decision. While the dismissals were acknowledged, the date nor the number of job cuts were confirmed. This is the latest step in a long-term downsizing. In 2010, IBM Österreich still had 1,800 employees. The yearly turnover of € 400 million has remained stable since then.
