European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The multi-national company Johnson Controls providing smart technology solutions for buildings and facilities plans to dismiss 532 out of 1,366 employees in its subsidy in Bratislava. The dismissal was announced to the local employment office on 15 January 2021 and should be accomplished by the end of April 2021. Job cuts are caused by organisational changes related to the relocation of activities of the company from Slovakia to India. According to the Head of Communication Unit, the relocation of some activities from Bratislava centre is a strategic decision not related to the economic situation of the company. Changes will mainly concern internal financial and bookkeeping positions. Workplaces ensuring regional support to customers will be retained. Employees in home office have been notified about the planned organisational changes by email.
