Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The parcel service provider GLS, a British-owned logistics company based in Amsterdam, will expand its international distribution centre in Jihlava and create up 100 new jobs by autumn 2021. The company has already started the construction of a new hall with an investment of €12 million. The company accelerated its plans due to the increase in online shopping last year marked by the COVID-19 crisis.
The Jihlava centre currently employs 250 people.
Globally, GLS with 17,000 staff worldwide operates directly and via a partnership network within 41 European countries, eight U.S. states and two Canadian provinces.
