Description

Maxwell’s Restaurant Group, the British hospitality company, has entered liquidation, with the immediate loss of 400 jobs at the Group’s clubs, bars and restaurants in London and Oxford.

The closure is due to the COVID-19 pandemic and government restrictions on the British hospitality industry. A statement by Café de Paris, one of the clubs owned by the Group, said the company had tried to support staff and respect health and safety,  but they had ‘reached the end of the road.’

The Group’s most famous venue, Café de Paris opened in 1924 and it hosted stars including Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland and featured in films and music videos.
