Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Radiall group has announced 46 job cuts at its Château-Renault (Indre-et-Loire) factory, which is specialised in the manufacture of connectors for aircraft, radar and satellites. The employment safeguard plan (PSE) was presented to the staff representatives of its Château-Renault site, and then to all the employees. In total, 46 positions are to be cut in its aeronautical activity, that is 13% of the 350 employees employed on permanent contracts.
The site works mainly for the aeronautics industry. The management explains that all the analysts are in agreement in saying that the activity will only return to the 2019 level in 2025. This reorganisation is a direct consequence of the Covid-19 epidemic, when the sector's prospects were previously favourable.
The plant already cut about 100 positions of fixed-term contract and temporary workers since March 2020. Between July and November, 24 employees left the company in the framework of voluntary departures.
