Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Axéréal cooperative group, one of the leaders in the collection and sale of cereals, brewing, general food and flour manufacturing, has announced a reorganisation with site closures in France and more than 220 job cuts. The group is continuing negotiations with the trade unions until 18 January 2021 to finalise the Employment safeguard plan. The overall impact of the Covid-19 pandemic (mainly due to the slowdown in the beer market) 'amounted to €21 million on 30 June 2020', the company estimates.
The group employs 4,000 people worldwide, including 3,000 in France.
