Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Autostrade per l'Italia, the private company managing Italian highways on behalf of the State, approved a modification of the 2020-2024 economic and financial plan which entails 2,400 new hirings by the end of 2024. Part of these jobs will replace retiring personnel.
The new hirings will particularly seek to fill roles linked to digital innovation and sustainability. The company plans to implement digital solutions such as sensors to monitor the condition of the infrastructure and to deploy fast-charging areas for electric cars.
The formerly public company Autostrade per l'Italia is active in the construction and management of highways and was privatized in the 1990s. Today, the company manages 3,020 km of highways in Italy and employs about 7,000 employees in the country.
