European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The management of the Disneyland Paris amusement and leisure park has begun negotiations with the trade unions to set up a voluntary departures plan that could involve up to 1,000 people.
According to the majority CFDT union, the reorganisation was already planned before the Covid-19 crisis, as the management wanted to revise the programme of shows offered to visitors by cutting some shows such as the Wild West Show or the Stunt Show (car stunts).
After being closed from 13 March to 15 July, the amusement park, which employs 14,620 permanent staff, has been closed again since 30 October. It is not expected to reopen until 13 February at the earliest. The management does not envisage a return to normal activity (equivalent to 2019) before 2022.
This is the first job cut announcement since the opening of the park. Two former job creation announcements were recorded in the ERM Database, with 200 job creations in 2012 and 1,000 job creations in 2014.
