Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
According to a decision of the Extraordinary General Meeting, Polish producer of matches PCC Consumer Products Czechowice in Czechowice-Dziedzice is expected to be liquidated within the next few months. As a result, 200 employees will be dismissed, and the production plant closed. The decision is related to the COVID-19 pandemic and a drop in demand for matches. The company informed that all obligations towards employees and contractors will be fulfilled.
The company was founded in 1919. PCC Consumer Products Czechowice is one of the largest matches producer in Europe manufacturing 70 million matches daily; it sells its products in Europe, Africa and South America.
