Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Continental Mabor, the Portuguese subsidiary of German tyres manufacturer Continental, located in Vila Nova de Famalicao, has announced that it is to make permanent contracts to some 170 of its 400 temporary employees, before the end of 2020. The remaining temporary employees will be converted into permanent staff progressively. Additionally, the company also states that there is an intention to hire new workers to replace others who will leave the company due to retirement reasons.
