Description
DO & CO, the Austrian catering company which prepares meals for airlines, including British Airways is making 1,068 workers redundant at its site at Heathrow Airport, according to the trade union Unite. This restructuring brings the number of job losses to a total of 1,377, including voluntary redundancies, since the start of the pandemic.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the travel restrictions, DO & CO’s revenues decreased by 87% between April and June.
A representative of Unite criticised DO & CO for not putting its workers on the UK government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, which has recently been extended until March 2021.
DO & CO specialises in event and airline catering and operates several sites in 12 countries.
