Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Trim Leader Company, belonging to German Adient group, announced mass dismissal of 356 employees in its Bardejov plant in East Slovakia. According to the PR of Adient, the plant will be completely closed due to insufficient utilisation of available capacities. Trim Leader produces different types of upholstery of car seats. Decision on the closure is attributed to decreasing revenues in the automotive sector as well as to expected higher labour costs in 2021. The company informed that they were currently discussing the details of the closure with employee representatives.
Trim Leader operates in brownfield industrial park in Bardejov since 2018. In 2019, it received almost €100,000 regional subsidy to cover its operational costs.
