Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Valmet Automotive, a Finnish manufacturing company, has announced its plans to expand the electric vehicle battery production plant located in Salo, southwest of Finland, 'to meet the needs of increased production volumes of battery packs'. As a result of this, the company will double the workforce from 200 employees to 400 employees. New employees will be recruited between 2021 and 2022.
According to the company, the growth in this business area is rapid and new contracts are in the pipeline.
Valmet Automotive manufactures both vehicles and electronic vehicle batteries. It expects the sales of its electronic vehicle battery production to exceed manufacturing during the upcoming years. The company recently announced that it will open a new electric vehicle battery production plant in Uusikaupunki where it already has a vehicle production unit.
