Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Indra, the Spanish multinational company that provides consulting services on transport, defence, energy, telecommunications, and financial services, has announced the collective dismissal of 1,036 workers at its subsidiary company Soluciones Tecnológicas de la Información (ISTI).
Indra explains that the need to transform the workforce of its subsidiary is due to the decrease in results and in services demand, together with the structural changes in the company's business.
Moreover, Indra highlights that the current economic context accelerates structural changes in the sectors where ISTI operates. The CCOO union opposes the collective dismissal, requesting Indra to train those employees affected to face the necessary changes in the company.
