Description
JD Wetherspoon, the British pub company has announced that it is planning to make up to 450 jobs redundant at its pubs at Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow airports. The redundancies represent nearly half of the staff working at these six pubs.
The company’s chief executive said the decision to cut jobs was motivated by the significant reduction in air travel and passenger numbers visiting pubs in airport waiting areas in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
JD Wetherspoon has almost 900 Wetherspoon’s pubs, a chain of Lloyds No.1 bars and a growing number of Wetherspoon’s hotels across the UK and Ireland.
