Description
Domino’s Pizza Group, the British franchise of the US-based international fast food pizza delivery chain, has announced that it is creating 5,000 new jobs across the UK. The new jobs include pizza chefs, delivery drivers and customer service workers. The company said the new jobs are in addition to the 6,000 jobs it had created since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The company has also undertaken to provide 1,000 work placements for young people in stores across England, Scotland and Wales under the Kickstart job creation scheme, Beneficiaries "will receive on-the-job training and have access to new e-learning modules on key skills such as timekeeping and teamwork", according to reporting in the Guardian.
Domino's has benefitted from an increase in home deliveries during the coronavirus crisis. The chief executive said the newly created jobs would help Domino’s “to safely serve our local communities” and prepare for the Christmas period.
Domino’s is Britain’s biggest pizza delivery chain, with 1,184 stores and 35,000 employees. Last year the company sold almost 90 million pizzas.
