Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Adient Trim, a Romanian subsidiary of Adient plc, an American Irish-domiciled company that manufactures automotive seating, announced that it will create 200 new jobs in Ploiesti (Prahova County). The company seeks to recruit the 200 sewing machine operators by the end of 2020.
Adient Trim currently has 1,800 employees. According to a plant manager, the company seeks to recruit additional employees as demand in the automotive industry shows signs of recovery.
Adient employs 6,000 workers in Romania across seven plants: Jimbolia and Timisoara (Timis County); Craiova (Dolj County); Poiana Lacului, Pitesti and Bradu (Arges County) and Ploiesti (Prahova County).
Worldwide, the company has a workforce of 85,000 employees in 234 plants across 34 countries.
