Dow Chemical, a multinational manufacturer of chemical products, is cutting 170 jobs at its location in Terneuzen, including 150 direct dismissals. The job cuts in Terneuzen are part of a worldwide reorganisation to reduce personnel costs. The reorganisation is a result of a strong drop in demand in several sectors Dow supplies to. The job cuts in Terneuzen includes both manufacturing and office jobs. At the purchasing department, 15 jobs will be relocated to Switzerland. Talks about a social plan are ongoing.
Dow employs 3,600 people in Terneuzen and 36,500 people worldwide in over 30 countries.
