Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The pharmaceutical laboratory Gifrer has announced 125 job cuts on a total workforce of 215 employees at its historic site at Décines-Charpieu (Rhône), near Lyon. The production department in charhe of making oxigenated water will be closed. Production will therefore stop at Décines and be relocated, partly to Belgium and partly to subcontractors in France.
The management said that this decision is a response to the obsolescence of the Décines factory, which has had an impact on the operating result for nearly ten years.
The company was created at this site in 1912.
