Description
Rehau, an industrial group specialised in polymers, has announced 106 job cuts in its plant at Morhange (Moselle) where 390 people are employed. The plant produces polymers, among other things to make PVC windows. The company specifies that the job cuts concern both production positions and support services.
According to the management, the plant has to cope with structural losses for about nine years – independently of the COVID-19 crisis. Therefore, the reorganisation aims to restore the balance within two years. ‘To stop the deterioration of our results in this complex environment, we are forced to launch an industrial reorganisation’, confirms the president of Rehau France. The restructuring includes the relocation to Morhange of logistics activities which are currently located in Vaulx-en-Velin (Rhône) and with external service providers. This transfer to the head office will lead to the creation of 15 jobs, at the same time as the 106 jobs are cut.
The restructuring process will be spread out over a year or so, starting on 1 October 2020. In addition, an employment safeguard plan (PSE) will be implemented. Internal redeployment will be offered, as well as early retirement and retraining plans. According to the company, no redundancies are expected to take place before February 2021.
