Description
As announced on 16 September 2020, the German automotive supplier Mahle will be cutting 2,000 jobs in Germany due to internal restructuring. Similar to other automotive suppliers, Mahle is adapting to the drop in sales caused by the COVID-19 crisis. Mahle CEO Stratmann expects that it will take several years to come back to the pre-crisis sales level. As a consequence, Mahle will be cutting 7,600 jobs worldwide. Of those 2,000 jobs will be cut in Germany. However, as of today there is no information on a timeframe nor the location of job cuts available. Negotiation between works council, trade union and management will start shortly. Management emphasised its intention to make the job reduction as socially acceptable as possible.
