Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
As announced on 16 September 2020 the German bottling and packaging machine manufacturing company Krones will be cutting 500 jobs in Germany due to internal restructuring. Due to the expected drop in sales caused by the COVID-19 crisis, Krones intends to adapt its number of personnel. As a consequence, Krones will be offering a voluntary programme to employees aged 59 or older from the end of September to the end of November. Employees will have the possibility to sign a cancellation agreement or sign an early retirement programme. There is no information on the affected locations available.
Currently, Krones has 10,000 employees in Germany.
