Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
As announced on 9 September 2020 the German shipyard Nobiskrug Werft will be cutting 120 jobs at its plant in Rendsburg by the end of September 2020 due to internal restructuring. According to management, the restructuring was planned in 2018 to be implemented in 2021. However, due to the current COVID-19 crisis, the company moved the job reduction ahead of the previously planned date. As a result, Nobiskrug is laying off 120 employees by the end of this month. Terminated employees will have the opportunity to enter a transfer company.
After the job reduction, Nobiskrug will have 350 employees at Rendsburg.
