Description
Mayr-Melnhof ended the production of cardboard at its site in Hirschwang an der Rax, resulting in the loss of 130 jobs. The company said that the main machine (1952) was being decommissioned and that the fire which destroyed part of the production hall last February was not the reason. The restructuring affects 150 employees in total, however 10 to 15% of the staff will have the opportunity to change to other jobs within the company. A social plan will be negotiated and the exact date for the shutdown will be part of those negotiations. In 2017, the Mayr-Melnhof Karton AG had a total number of 9,856 employees and a turnover of €2,337 million.
