Description
The British Heart Foundation, the British charity specialising in supporting patients suffering in heart and circulatory diseases and funding research in this field, has announced that it will implement a cost saving restructuring programme which includes 300 jobs being cut. Redundancy consultations with the affected employees are underway.
The Foundation’s chief executive said the restructure was necessary to compensate for an expected 50% in the charity’s income compared to that in 2019, due to the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the charity’s shops and fundraising events.
The chief executive called on the UK government to support charities and medical research, to save jobs, and in the longer term, scientific research in the UK.
