French leader in the shoe trade, Royer group was hit hard by the health crisis with the closure of many factories and shops. It announced a reorganisation with up to 200 job cuts in France, out of a total of 650 employees, including 300 at the Fougères site (Ille-et-Vilaine). The four other French sites (Arques, Maleville, Sèvres and Cholet) are also affected by the job cuts. The group owns 35 footwear brands and has 23 million pairs of shoes marketed in 2017, exported to 70 countries. In 2013 the group had already announced a vast savings plan with around 100 jobs threatened before a capital increase the following year.
