Description
Catering company Compass Group announced 900 job cuts out of the 4,500 jobs in the Netherlands. Catering for company restaurants and event catering form a large part of the company's activities. As a result of the COVID-19 crisis the turnover in company restaurants was reduced by 90% and the event catering business was shut down completely as events were cancelled. The number of job cuts may increase as the status of 3,000 jobs will be reviewed, while only 1,500 jobs are sure to remain unaffected as those jobs are part of the company's activities that are not related to catering.
Negotiations about a social plan are ongoing. Employee representatives state that talks are proceeding in a constructive way, adding that nobody is to blame for the current situation.
