Description
Dutch chemical company DSM cuts 200 jobs worldwide, including 170 of the 3,900 jobs in the Netherlands. Most jobs cuts will occur at the division in Sittard-Geleen where 170 jobs will disappear, 120 of which through forced dismissals and another 50 jobs through natural attrition. The remaining 50 job cuts take place at a division in Delft. Changing market conditions are stated as the main reason for the reorganisation. For two years, a long-term social plan has been in place. Union representatives state they are unpleasantly surprised with the reorganisation plans and call the reorganisation an abuse of the social plan.
