Description
Sodexo, a French multinational food services company, has announced dismissals in its Belgian On-Site-Services branch which provides catering services for businesses. The main reasoning behind the measures is the fact that the company has suffered significant losses due to the Covid-19 crisis and the measures implemented by the government. The policy to work from home and the restrictions on dining facilities has meant that a large number of the the company clients did not require catering services leading to significant downtimes. The company management states that it is unfortunate but necessary to adapt the structure and way of working within the company to the current way of consuming meals at work.
Already during the COVID-crisis, 1,400 of the company's 4,000 employees were covered by the Belgian government's temporary unemployment scheme.
