Description

Burger King UK, the British subsidiary of the US-based global fast food hamburger chain, has announced that it is likely to permanently close 5-10% of its restaurants in the UK, leading to 800-1,600 redundancies.

The chief executive officer said although the chain had reopened the majority of its restaurants in the UK, the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic made it likely that some outlets will 'not be able to survive'.

Burger King UK has 530 restaurants across the country and it employs more than 16,000 people.
