Description
Accenture, the US-based global consultancy and IT-services company has announced plans to cut up to 900 jobs in the UK by September in response to the decline in demand for its services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The redundancies will affect employees at all levels and across all parts of the business. Consultations with affected employees have already started.
A statement by the company said the redundancy programme was necessary to ensure that the business is 'well positioned for the future', in a context in which most of the major world's consultancy firms cut their expenses to cope with the crisis linked with the pandemic.
Accenture has operations in over 50 countries and employs more than 500,000 people globally. In the UK, it employs 11,000 people in 23 locations across the country.
