Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Aéorport de Paris (ADP), the manager of the Roissy, Orly and Le Bourget airport platforms, has announced the opening of negotiations for an agreement on a voluntary redundancy plan that could affect 10% of the workforce, that is around 600 jobs out of a total of 6,500. At the same time, ADP wants to introduce a system of long-term short-time working and a collective performance agreement. Both schemes would lead to salary reductions for those who remain with the company. The timetable for discussions between the social partners is tight, since the three social agreements must, according to management, be completed before 1 October. The airport management group justifies these cost-cutting measures, evaluated by the trade unions at €200 million, by the unprecedented crisis in air transport caused by COVID-19.
