Description
Sertec Group, the British automotive components manufacturer is planning to cut 428 jobs at six of its sites in the West Midlands region of England, according to the trade union Unite.
An officer of Unite said it was "premature" to be considering cuts, because the majority of affected workers were on temporary paid leave under the UK government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme. Unite also noted that by initiating redundancies while workers were on leave restricted the trade union’s right to meaningfully consult with its members.
The Sertec Group has manufacturing sites in the UK, Germany, Hungary and China. The company produces components for Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan and Toyota.
