DPD, the Belgian branch of the multinational DPD group that specialises in parcel delivery services, has announced an investment of €60 million for the launch of four new facilities across the country by the end of 2020, creating 500 new jobs. Some 300 of the new roles are for drivers, while another 200 workers will be employed in operational jobs. The new depots are located in Lummen, Sint-Niklaas, Puurs and Zellik, which should be operational in October 2020.
The current COVID-19 crisis was an important factor in the decision to expand the business, as many traditional shops were forced to remain closed at the peak of the crisis and online purchases increased significantly. The company management estimates that the company growth in the past months will not diminish in the future.
