Description
Capita, the UK-based professional services outsourcing firm, announced plans to reduce its workforce by 200 jobs.
According to the company, the cuts will take place in the company’s central support teams that are based in London. For the moment, the employees dealing directly with Capita's clients will not be affected by the internal restructuring. Furthermore, the company has started a consultation process with employees about the planned redundancies.
Although Capita declares to be currently working on about 100 different projects for the UK government in its pandemic response, encompassing also providing workers for healthcare call centres, the management of the company claimed that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic had a 'net negative' effect on the business, leading to consider the job cuts.
Capita can be considered amidst the the largest professional services companies in the UK, with its business mainly focused in the country, but operating also across Europe, Asia and Africa.
