Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
French multinational dairy products company, Lactalis, has announced plans to close its plants in Floreni and Vatra Dornei (Suceava County) by the end of August 2020. Around 158 employees will be dismissed in this collective redundancy. The French company indicates that they have exhausted all attempts to make work more efficient in the two plants. Lactalis Groups entered the Romania market in 2008 and has a workforce of 2,300 across 7 plants - the largest are Albalact in Oiejdea, Alba County, Covalact in Sf. Gheorghe, Covasna County and Raraul in Campulung Moldova, Suceava County.
The company employs 75,000 people worldwide, at 237 production sites in 43 different countries.
