GE Caledonian, the Scotland-based branch of GE Aviation, has cut 150 jobs at its production site in Prestwick. According to news media sources, the job cuts were made under a voluntary redundancy scheme.
A spokesperson for GE Aviation announced that redundancy consultations had started due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, however, the exact number of redundancies was not confirmed by the company.
GE Caledonian is part of GE Aviation, the world's leading providers of jet engines for commercial and military aircraft. The Prestwick site specialises in the maintenance of jet engines.
