Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 25 June 2020, the ground handling company in Copenhagen Airport, Aviator Airport Services, announced that 238 employees will be dismissed. The dismissals are due to the effects of COVID-19 on Danish aviation. In the first place, the company had set the number of redundancies to 335, but after the obligatory negotiations with the employees representatives the number was reduced to 238. Many of these will be offered further training as hospital porters. Some of the redundant employees may be re-hired when air travel resumes at normal levels.
