Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The German-owned automotive company Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Poland, a subsidiary of Daimler, announced its plans to create 650 jobs at its new electric battery factory in Jawor, Poland. The first production line is expected to be launched in September 2020 and a further one in the first quarter of 2021. After a break associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, the company is to resume its recruitment process in the near future. The factory is a part of the company’s global battery production network consisting of nine units.
In 2019, Mercedes-Benz launched an engine factory in Jawor; currently, the site employs 650 employees. The factories in Jawor are supplied with CO2-neutral energy.
