Description
Czech Engineering-metallurgical company Unex has significantly reduced the number of employees due to the COVID-19 crisis. Since April, about 200 job cuts were implemented in two manufacturing sites (Uničov and Olomouc). Company spokesman Boris Keka cites a drop in global demand as the main reason. Unex, which still employed about 1,100 people in April, exports over 80 percent of its production. Production at the Uničov plant has been significantly reduced since mid-March, when the city was closed due to the spread of coronavirus. The largest redundancies occurred in the Olomouc plant where a hundred of the total 150 employees lost their jobs.
