Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The aeronautical subcontractor Halgand has decided to implement an employment safeguardĀ plan based on 89 job cuts. Halgand currently employs 260 employees on permanent contracts. The restructuring plan is justified by a significant drop in activity and a revision of contracts towards lower prices dueto the COVID-19 crisis. The positions likely to be eliminated have not yet been defined. Concurrently with the plan, the employees suffered their salaries' 13th month cut for the year 2020.
In 2019, despite the announced end of the A380 programme, Halgand benefited from the good health of the aeronautics sector, particularly Airbus. It announced the construction of a 2,000 mĀ² extension, even envisaging a further expansion in the medium term.
