Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
German packaging firm Deufol is opening a new plant in Debrecen. The new production site is expected to begin operation in September 2020. A total of 120 new jobs will be created. The recruiting has already begun: as of now, 20 employees have been hired. According to the plan, the number of employees will reach 100 by the end of 2021, with further personnel expansion in the following year.
The investment cost is €20 million. The Hungarian government supports the project to the amount of roughly €4 million. The new site will be the most state-of-the-art logistical and packaging centre of the firm in Europe, and it will also serve as its South-Eastern European regional centre, according to a senior member of Deufol management.
Besides good logistical features and the availability of young professionals coming from the local university, the presence of a production unit of one of the firm’s important partners, Krones AG, in Debrecen, has also contributed to the choice of location.
