Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
TikTok UK, the British subsidiary of the China-based multinational internet technology company ByteDance, has created 117 new jobs in London.
The new roles mainly include software developers as well product managers. The recruitment process is already ongoing, and some of the vacancies are advertised on TikTok's career website.
The reasons at the basis of the business expansion of TikTok in the UK rely on the increasing popularity of its video sharing app among teenagers, also in Europe. In 2019 it has surpassed a billion app downloads worldwide, with an estimated number of monthly active users of 625 million.
TikTok is a video-sharing social networking service owned by ByteDance, a Chinese company founded in 2012. Its app is available in over 150 markets and in 75 languages.
